This Read Me file contains last-minute product information and
updates to the YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3 User Manual. It also
contains helpful tips to solving unusual or machine-specific
problems. For additional troubleshooting tips, consult the User
Manual. 


Installing YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3
=============================
Before installing YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3, disable all
anti-virus software and any TSRs on your computer. To disable
your anti-virus software, consult your anti-virus software's
documentation.

If you interrupt the Installer application during the
installation process, it may leave some files on your hard disk.
To restart the installation process,  please remove these files
and run the installer again.


WINDOWS COMPATIBILITY
=============================
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK can be played on any 486- or 586-based PC
running Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT. YOU DON'T KNOW
JACK is compatible with Windows NT 3.5 and Windows NT 4.0. 

If you see dialogs asking "Do you want to play YOU DON'T KNOW 
JACK?" during the game you can choose "no" and ignore them.
This is a rare problem that may occur with older CD-ROM drives.  
If you find these dialogues annoying you can prevent them by 
disabling Autoplay. To disable Autoplay, choose Control Panel
from the Settings section of the Start Menu. Double-click the 
System icon, select the Device Manager tab, click on the 
icon for CD-ROM drives, and then double-click on the CD-ROM 
drive itself. An options panel will appear; uncheck the box 
labeled "Auto Insert Notification" 

If you are using the Virtual Memory feature in Windows 95 and you
are running very low of free disk space, you may experience "Out
of Memory" errors in YOU DON'T KNOW JACK. Check your Virtual
Memory settings, free some hard disk space and then restart
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK. 

If you run SHARE, please disable it before you try to uninstall
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK. You can disable it be commenting out the
SHARE line from you autoexec.bat file. You can re-enable SHARE as
soon as YOU DON'T KNOW JACK has been removed from your PC. 


YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3 Performance
=============================================
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3 performs best when your video 
display is set to 256 colors. Some PC hardware may not be fast 
enough to play the game well in higher color video modes.

If you experience sound or video performance problems with YOU 
DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3, please make sure that neither the 
Microsoft Office Toolbar, the Norton Navigator Task Bar, nor any 
similar utility, is running when you run YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3.
These utilities can negatively effect the performance of many games.

Tip: You can temporarily disable most Windows utilities by 
holding down the shift key while Windows is loading. These 
utilities will launch normally the next time you restart Windows. 

If you still experience sound stuttering, make sure that you have
installed the latest drivers for your sound card. Contact the
manufacturer of your sound card for more information on the
availability of driver updates. Updates can usually be downloaded
for free from the World Wide Web or from your manufacturer's own
electronic bulletin board.
